I am nearly 52 so I guess I am meant to be a relatively mature adult who has seen most things and could be more “sensible” (sod that), but I woke up at 3am this morning with a jolt because I can’t shut my brain down with excitement. Yesterday I caught three bass on creature baits (crab imitation soft plastics) thanks entirely to the very nice Marc Cowling of South Devon Bass Guide who so kindly had me along for a day’s fishing. I absolutely love fishing with and sharing bass fishing information with Marc, and yesterday he essentially guided me onto my first ever bass on creature baits. Although my first fish was pretty small, I don’t mind admitting that I got the shakes I was so buzzed up………….

And then around lunchtime today I am flying over to Guernsey to do some fishing and Savage Gear related filming with the lads over there. Put all this excitement together and sleep isn’t really an option. I am trusting in adrenaline to keep me going. Not only can I not stop thinking about the whole imitating crabs thing and where I might now far better apply this style of lure fishing because I have got the monkey off my back and did what I simply had to do to gain 100% confidence - catch bass myself using this method! - but I am also getting to get to spend a few days with some thoroughly good people in a truly lovely part of the world. There’s plenty I want to talk to you about the whole creature bait thing (now that I am so experienced! not!), but let’s wait until I have done my stuff in Guernsey and then I can tell you all about what happened yesterday. You all have a good weekend, I need to try and maintain a sensible heart rate without consuming too much coffee!

Guernsey here we come!
